2024 Kia Telluride Release Date, Rumors, AWD, and Prices. The 2024 Kia Telluride was revealed in September 2024 at New York Fashion Week. The marque chose this stylish event to reveal their new SUV as opposed to an auto show. It turned out that there was a great reason to take this approach.
The version that was shown to the world was a one-off version designed by fashion designer Brandon Maxwell. The model SUV had a collection of trinkets and color ways inspired by the designer’s Texas styled runway.
A month later, Kia revealed 4 highly tricked out concepts of the Telluride to the SEMA show in Las Vegas. They were adapted for extreme off-road driving. After seeing both boutique and off-road versions of this SUV, we’re anticipating a reveal of the production version of the 2024 Kia Telluride. This will be the version that you can actually purchase.
Engine and Specs
The exterior and interior sections of this SUV were penned in the marque’s design center in Irvine, California. These features were covered extensively at the reveal events. The powerplant under the hood was not explained in detail.
This SUV can seat 8 passengers comfortably. It is powered by a 3.8 liter V8 engine. This mill produces 291 horsepower at 6,000 Revolutions per Minute (RPM) and 262 pound-feet of torque.
The 2024 Kia Telluride is available with Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and All Wheel Drive (AWD) systems. They are both mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission system. An excellent feature of this SUV is terrain selection.
The driver can choose from four drive modes. They are Smart, Eco, Comfort and Sport. When the terrain gets challenging, the driver can pick AWD Lock or Snow mode.
When the Eco or Smart options are activated, V6 power is delivered to the front wheels. When the SUV is riding in Snow or Comfort modes, power is distributed according to an 80:20 front/rear distribution. Sport mode changes this ratio to 65:35 front/rear. Lock mode distributes power evenly to the front and the rear.
Features
There is an ample collection of toys for the occupants of the cabin to play with. One of these is a 10.3 inch touchscreen panel on the center panel. It contains an infotainment system which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Audio is presented through a 630 watt Harman Kardon system featuring 10-speakers. The SUV has a total of 6 USB charging ports and a wireless charging pad.
The 2024 Kia Telluride is a family SUV. It has a collection of safety features. Some are available as standard while others require purchase. Some examples of these are a 360 degree camera system, lane departure warning system, blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control as well as a Heads Up Display (HUD).
The new Telluride also has a special system which implements ultrasonic sensors to keep track of movements in the second and third rows of seats. These sensors automatically go online when the doors are locked. If movement from a child or a pet is detected, the Telluride informs the driver with audible alerts. To get this system working, you need to get a UVO subscription, a compatible smartphone and a wireless signal that is strong.
Release Date
We expect that the 2024 Kia Telluride will hit showrooms in 2023. It will be available in trims such as LX, EX, S and SX. The new SUV’s price will be revealed close to the launch date.
