2022 Ford F-150: Redesign, Specs, Colors, and Price. Following the recent redesign of its main rivals, the best-selling Ford F-150 will also switch to the new generation soon. The 2022 Ford F-150 version will initialize the 14th generation of the iconic truck. Ford still hides most details about the all-new version but hinted an arrival of the pure-electric version which should follow after the debut of the conventionally powered versions.
The prototype models of the next-generation F-150 were spotted on several occasions with a different level of camouflage. The latest spy photos give us better insight into the model’s new styling and interior design. We should also expect new-generation tech and safety equipment to be installed in the next version. The model will also follow the trend of large displays.
As for the powertrain solutions, we should expect familiar units to be offered again including the recently added turbodiesel engine. There are reports about the possible replacement of the 5.0-liter V-8 engine with a new, bit smaller displacement. The hybrid version will also be available and Ford should offer the additional off-road packages.
2022 FORD F-150 POWERTRAINS
At the performance level, the redesigned 2022 Ford F-150 will offer a broad range of options including the hybrid version and all-electric powertrain while there will also be familiar V-6 and V-8 units including the diesel engine. The transmission system across the range should be a 10-speed automatic.
There are reports that a 5.0-liter V-8 engine may be replaced with the new 4.8-liter unit. The Raptor version could also get a 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine from the Shelby GT500 to archive 700+ hp like the upcoming RAM Rebel TRX.
The new F-150 should also get multiple off-road packages like the current FX4 and possibly new Tremor treatment.
The truck could also get a rear independent suspension in some versions while most will continue with the solid axle.
2022 FORD F-150 DESIGN
Ford is still tightlipped about the changes of the upcoming, all-new 2022 Ford F-150 but the latest spy photos reveal some details about the model’s new exterior styling. On the other hand, the details about structural upgrades haven’t emerged.
Judging by the most recent spy photos the model comes with evolutionary styling changes and the same should be with the model’s structure. The reports also indicate that the model will again grow in size to open more room inside the cabin and possibly get a large cargo bed. It’s not clear, what level of the weight reduction the model will benefit from. The current generation arrived up to 700 lbs lighter than before but the new version won’t likely be close to that number.
As for the styling of the redesigned F-150, the recently spotted prototype reveals redesigned front fascia and sleek side paneling. The model comes with the new grille version which looks like the hybrid of the current grille design and that of the new Ranger. We also see a similarity with the new Ram truck’s grille.
We can also detect new headlight design on the prototype version. The new style of headlights is the evolution of the current design with the new signature lighting which looks similar to that of the newest GMC trucks. The truck will also come with the new bumpers.
The rear is expected to get new taillights and reworked tailgate with the multi-functional design. The grille style will vary with almost every trim as well as the trim inserts.
INTERIOR, EQUIPMENT
The new 2022 Ford F-150 will also come with significant changes inside the cabin and with the newest in-car technologies.
The shape of the dashboard should stay similar but the model will get a new center stack and instrument panel. The center stack will get a larger center display driven by the new SYNC 4 infotainment system. Following the trend of the larger touchscreens, the new F-150 should offer a 12.0-inch unit. The model will, however, keep physical controls as well as the traditional gear selector in the same place. The novelty will also be a digital instrument cluster.
The model will again offer cheaper and premium material options as well as top-notch comfort features. Depending on the trim version there will be various material textures combined with trim-specific inserts.
